Pro-government forces, backed by the Rusian and Syrian air forces, have been rapidly advancing towards the Euphrates River in the province of Aleppo.
Since March 4, the Syrian army and the National Defense Forces have liberated over 8 villages, including Abu Jarin, Atwiyat, Qasr Hadla, Tal Mai and Rasm Kbar and now are likely aiming to reach the Water Treatment plant which will allow government troops to increase the security of the water supplies to the city Aleppo.
When this done, pro-government forces will likely focus on the ISIS stronghold of Deir Hafer.
Meanwhile, the ISIS-linked Amaq news agency reported that over 130 airstrikes were delivered by Syrian and Russian warplanes against targets in the province.

The Syrian army’s Tiger Forces, the Russian Aerospace Forces, have liberated the villages of Rasm al-Hamam Miri, Ghadini and ‘Ashini in the eastern part of the province of Aleppo.
Government troops are clearly advancing in the direction of the two important ISIS held sites of Jarah Airbase and the Water Treatment plant near the Euphrates River.
If government forces liberated the plant, they will be able to improve the water security in the city of Aleppo. In turn, the control over the Jarah Airbase could allow the Syrian military to deploy attack helictopters in the area and to use them more actively along the Euphrates River.

US SPECIAL FORCES DEPLOYED LOTS OF ARMORED VEHICLES IN MANBIJ COUNTRYSIDE – PHOTO REPORT

The Reddid user, @Berkyx, has posted an intersting set of photos, depicting armored vehicles of the US Special Forces deployed in the area of the Syrian city of Manbij.
Photos show a significant number of US troops and Stryker armored fighting vehicles in the area of Manbij on Sunday.

An interesting fact that the US spokesman used the YPG acronym of Kurdish forces operating in the area. For about a year, the Pentagon and the mainstream media had been arguing that there were some “Arab force” on the ground in the area of Manbij, naming this force the “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF).
Indeed, the SDF predominantly conists of Kurdish YPG units and the SDF brand has been created in order to hide the YPG presence on the ground.
Earlier this month, reports appeared that the US Special Forces had set up a military base in Manbij in order to “defend” US-backed Kurdish forces from the possible Turkish military operation in the area.
Ankara describes US-backed Kurdish forces as a branch of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a militant organization described by the Turkish government as a terrorist group.
Meanwhile, Syrian troops have been also deployed in the Manbij countryside in order to prevent the Turkish-Kurdiash confrontation, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

Over the past 24 hours, Turkish-backed Euphrates Shield forces captured five soldiers of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) amid clashes in northeastern Aleppo near the city of Al-Bab.
One of soldiers was a member of the National Defence Forces (NDF) and saw himself captured amid skirmishes west of Manbij in an area which Kurdish forces have handed over to the SAA. His ID-card stated that he originated from Deir Ezzor.

Effectively, 13 SAA soldiers have been captured over the past week alone.
One Turkmen FSA faction claimed to have killed 9 fighters of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), including a female commander, during clashes in the nearby village of Abu Hayj.
The FSA’s Al-Hamza Division also continued to demine IED’s left behind by ISIS insurgents prior to their withdrawal from the city.
In related news, the SAA has scored unprecedented gains against ISIS in the eastern Aleppo countryside, capturing around five villages daily.

Russia Kills 19 CIA-Funded Terrorist Commanders In Syria
Posted on March 5, 2017 by Sean Adl-Tabatabai in Middle East, News // 1 Comment
Russia has destroyed the CIA-funded al-Nusra HQ near Aleppo, killing at least 67 terrorists, including 19 field commanders.
Fulfilling Putin’s promise that Russia would destroy U.S.-backed terrorist groups such as ISIS, Russian Aerospace forces successfully obliterated the al-Nusra HQ on February 28.
According to Sputnik:
On February 28, the headquarters of the al-Nusra terrorist group near Rasm al-Eis village, 28 kilometers south-west of Aleppo, was destroyed by a KAB-500 guided bomb launched by an Su-24 fighter jet of the Russian Aerospace forces, Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi, the chief of the Russian General Staff Main Operational Directorate, said on Friday.
“As a result, 67 terrorists, including 19 field commanders — natives of the North Caucasus and Central Asia, were eliminated. 104 militants were injured,” Rudskoi said.
Aleppo was a powerful economic center of Syria before the beginning of the civil war in 2011. It had been under militants’ control for several years and was significantly damaged during the conflict.
The city was liberated by the government forces in December 2016.
Russian mine disposal units have been clearing the Aleppo from mines since the city was freed from militants 2016.
Russia-insider.com reports:
Despite several “rebrandings”, al-Nusra has never been able to hide the fact that it has received direct and indirect support from the CIA.
Keep at it, Russia. A job well done.
