Sex robot TIMEBOMB: Japanese ‘will go EXTINCT by 3546’ as dolls beat ‘living competition'
THE JAPANESE will be extinct within the next 1,600 years if the dramatic collapse in the birth rate fuelled by the sex doll and robot popularity continues, experts have said.

A demographic countdown clock made by researchers at Tokyo University has predicted the exact year when Japan’s dwindling population will shrink to none. Year-on-year reductions in fertility rates paired with an ageing population has created a “demographic time bomb” that is threatening to turn the Japanese into an “endangered species”. The rise in popularity of realistic sex robots and dolls has been blamed in part for social alienation and the lack of newborns in Japan. The “doomsday clock”, developed by economists Hiroshi Yoshida and Masahiro Ishigaki, calculates the Japanese will disappear completely by 3546. Within 558,167 days, the Japanese could be consigned to history, according to the "birth clock" calculator if fertility rates do not improve.

As of April 1 2018, there were 15.53 million Japanese and other children in the nation, down 170,000 from the previous year. The efforts of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to combat the low birth rate appear to be failing as demographers look for answers to explain the precipitous drop. Some experts have pointed the finger at silicone love dolls and life-like robots women and men in Japan are replacing with real people. A survey conducted in 2017 found 49.3% of participants between 18 and 49 had no sex last month. Two years earlier, the percentage was 39 for the question on same survey – a marked increase in Japanese not having sex.

Some researchers have cited the strong work ethic of Japanese people as a possible explanation for the lack of births. Japanese men often work up to 80 hours a week, according to surveys. When faced with the choice between work and pursuing a love interest, some Japanese are choosing sex robots and dolls instead. A documentary by RT, titled “Substitutes”, explored the growing trend of Japanese people using dolls and cyborgs as an outlet to express their romantic and sexual desires.

The film examines how sex dolls are reducing the birth-rate and fuelling "a national mood of loneliness and alienation". Sex dolls sales have been increasing dramatically, according to Japanese firm Dutch Wives, which sold around 2,000 life-like dolls in 2017. The fake plastic women, costing around £4,600 ($6,000), have removable heads and adjustable fingers and genitals, the company said. Sex doll salesman Noburu Tanaka told RT that having sex with a silicone girl is better than the real thing.

Sex robot THERAPY: Cyborg addicts with ‘unhealthy’ habits will need treatment
SEX addicts should seek treatment instead of fuelling their “unhealthy” habits by making love to artificially intelligence robots, a therapist has warned.

Sex robots designed to replicate human speech and appearance are becoming more mainstream as technology advances.
Robotics developers across the world, including America"s Realbotix, Spain"s Synthea Amatus and China"s DS Doll, believe their androids could revolutionise human sexuality.
Others have been more sceptical about the rise of sex robots, casting doubt on their social and health benefits and the extent of their popularity.
Some psychologists believe the frequent use of realistic androids could fuel sex addiction and normalise "unhealthy" behaviour.
Dr Becky Spelman, a psychologist and relationship expert for sex toy brand We Vibe, said robotic lovers are not a solution for men and women hooked on sex.
"Sex robots will never provide an answer for sex addiction, whether it"s to ‘vanilla" sex or more adventurous or even dangerous sexual practices,” she told Daily Star Online.
"Addiction is by definition unhealthy and threatens to damage other aspects of one"s life.
"Anyone struggling with a sex addiction, or indeed any other sort of addiction, should attend therapy.
"Various therapeutic approaches can help with this problem, which can be extremely distressing.”
The symptoms of porn and sex addiction have been compared to alcohol and drug addiction, yet, psychologists and doctors disagree over whether it should be classified as a compulsive disorder.
OBSESSION: Dr Spelman said married men could become fixated on sex robots (Pic: REALDOLL) (Image: REALDOLL)
But last year sex addiction was added to the World Health Organization's International Classification of Diseases list, giving it recognition as a mental health disorder.
The list describes compulsive sexual behavior disorder as a "persistent pattern of failure to control intense, repetitive sexual impulses or urges resulting in repetitive sexual behaviour”.
Men and women hooked on having sex with androids could be likened to "problem drinkers”, according to psychological therapist Dr Thaddeus Birchard.
Although cyborgs might not necessarily induce sex addiction, Dr Birchard said, they could serve the same purpose as alcohol for people with drinking issues.
IN PROGRESS: Sex robots are becoming more advanced (Pic: REALDOLL) (Image: REALDOLL)
"It has the same function as alcohol for problem drinkers,” Dr Birchard, author of Overcoming Sexual Addiction – A Self Help Guide, said.
"It is an escape from the self. This is the psychology behind it.”
Dr Markie Twist, a sex education expert and family studies professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, is dubious about the classification of sex addiction as a "disorder”.
Twist and her colleague Dr Neil McArthur, a philosophy professor at the University of Manitoba, are both of the view that robots and other technologies are giving rise to a new sexual identity they call "digisexuality”.
She said digisexuality should not be equated with sex addiction, which the American Psychological Association (APA) does not consider a clinical disorder.
ADDICTION: Sex robot use could be a way of expressing sexual activity or addiction, experts say (Pic: REALDOLL) (Image: REALDOLL)
The American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) does not believe in sex addiction either, she said.
She told Daily Star Online: "I would say a more helpful lens to view people"s digisexuality then is to see it as an attachment relationship like a digital attachment style or digi-attachment relationship.”
Dr McArthur, who co-authored paper "The Rise of Digisexuality” with Twist, agrees with her analysis of sex addiction in relation to androids.
He said "the language of addiction is particularly helpful” and should not be applied to digisexuals who do not have a problematic relationship with technology.
"A pattern of behaviour is a problem if the individual herself experiences it as problematic,” he said.
"Digisexuals don"t experience their relationship with technology as problematic, quite the contrary, and we should not impose a diagnosis on them that they themselves couldn"t endorse.”
