Ukraine’s Naftogaz has paid Gazprom $15 million for gas delivery. At current levels, the prepayment covers one day's gas consumption and will be spent by Tuesday, Gazprom spokesperson Sergey Kupriyanov said.
“Today at 9:20am MSK Gazprom received a payment from Ukraine’s Naftogaz in the amount of $15 million. At the current level of supply this sum will be enough roughly for one day,” he said.
"If Naftogaz paid for another 24 hours, it means the resources would last through Monday till Tuesday," he said.
The relatively small prepayment suggests Kiev is buying time before trilateral talks in Brussels on march 2nd. Russian energy minister Alexander Novak had warned Kiev’s failure to pre-pay would mean a cut-off.

In a letter sent to Gazprom late Wednesday, Naftogaz said it had a total of 206 million cubic meters of Russian gas pre-paid.
"The concerns and worries are caused first of all by the fact that not much prepaid gas is left. If there is no money the supplies will stop starting from Tuesday," Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said Friday, as cited by TASS news agency.
"The payment should be completed Friday so that the gas is supplied starting from Tuesday,"Novak said. "If there is no payment there will be a break in gas supplies to Ukraine. The European consumers will fully receive gas."
“We are worried about the situation with the problem of prepayment for the gas delivery. On Friday morning, the rest of the gas, prepaid by Ukraine, accounted for 123.8 mln cubic meters. Taking into consideration the fact that on the average we supply [Ukraine] with 42 mln cubic meters, without DPR and LPR [Donetsk People's Republic and Lugansk People's Republic], in fact, the remains of the gas will be enough only for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,” Novak said, according to RIA-Novosti.
In a new gas standoff, deliveries to the conflict-plagued Donbass region have become a new bone of contention between Russian and Ukraine. Last week Kiev suspended deliveries to the area, citing damage to the pipeline. Russia then launched a separate gas supply to Donbass, with President Vladimir Putin saying that cutting the war zone off gas “smells like genocide.” Gazprom said Thursday it was ready to separate gas supplies to Ukraine and Donbass.

Ukraine also accuses Gazprom for breaching the contract terms, insisting Russia was delivering less then Kiev requested. It said that on February 22 and 23 it received 47 million and 39 million cubic meters respectively, while it asked for 114 million cubic meters. Gazprom says it fulfills all of its contractual obligations.
The data from Ukrainian gas transmission system operator Ukrtransgaz shows that Ukraine collected 488,106 million cubic meters of Russian gas in December last year, which increased to 920,314 million in January, and soared to 772,272 billion cubic meters between February 1 and February 25 this year.
The gas row comes as Ukraine’s economy plunges into a full-blown crisis. A year of Maidan unrest dragged GDP to -6.5 percent last year and saw the national currency, the hryvnia, lose about 75 percent.Naftogaz head Andrey Kobolev also admitted that his company has been teetering on the brink of bankruptcy since 2009.
Earlier this month, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed to provide a $17.5 billion bailout package to Ukraine, which requires Kiev to reform its economy and cut expenses.

The United Arab Emirates is not selling military equipment to Ukraine, despite earlier statements by Kiev officials, the UAE Foreign Ministry said.
“An agreement on cooperation in defense technologies the UAE and Ukraine signed recently does not stipulate any contracts for deliveries of weaponry to the Ukrainian side,”said Faraj Faris al-Mazrouei, adviser to UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The deal was only one element in a future system of cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense technologies, RIA Novosti reported al-Mazrouei as saying, citing the Emarat Al-Yawm news portal.

E. Ukraine artillery withdrawal focus of FMs meeting – as Poroshenko buys UAE weapons
The UAE and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding on military-technical cooperation during the IDEX-2015 defense exhibition in Abu Dhabi earlier this week.
After the signing, an advisor to Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Anton Gerashchenko, wrote on social networks that this cooperation would include “the supply of certain types of arms and military equipment to Ukraine” by the UAE.
“The types and volumes of supplies, as you can imagine, are not for disclosure on Facebook,” Gerashchenko said.
The advisor stressed that “unlike Europeans and Americans, the Arabs aren’t afraid of Putin’s threats of a third world war starting in case of arms and ammunition supplies to Ukraine.”
Gerashchenko declared that weapons supplies to Ukraine will be UAE’s “little revenge” to Moscow, which, he alleged, Abu Dhabi blames for the recent drop in oil prices.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has claimed that Kiev signed about 20 contracts on arms supplies at the recent International Defense Exhibition fair, IDEX-2015.
“Deals to supply of defensive weapons to Ukraine have been signed with European, American and Middle Eastern companies,” Poroshenko said.

Kiev has signed new military contracts, despite the a military conflict in Eastern Ukraine with withdrawal of heavy weaponry currently being under way there in accordance with the Minsk-2 peace deal from February 11.
Earlier this month, US President Barack Obama also said that his administration is considering arming Ukrainian troops fighting against the rebels in Donetsk and Lugansk Regions.
The Ukrainian military conflict began in April 2014, after Kiev sent its military to southeastern regions of the country that refused to recognize the new coup-imposed authorities in the capital. Nearly a year of fighting has led to least 5,793 killed and another 14,595 people wounded, according to UN estimates.

Ukratko; prave se da ih je za..bo. Zato je doslo do sloma ukrainske vojske kod Debalceva. Jedino se ubacuje Jazenjuk, koji bi ostriju liniju prema separatistima vozio, uz cinjenicu da njegova partija i on ojacali ionako. Navodi se i da je ratna avantura, kojoj je bio svjestan, u koju se upustali zavrsila u fiasko. Znalo se da po borbenom moralu separatista i equipmentu, koji njima Rusija salje, nisu dorasli. Trupe su demoralizirane, vojnici ljuti i razocarani. Bijedno i ponizeni su se povukli pod paljbom artiljerije iz onog grada, koji je bio simbol ukrainske snage i volje otpora! Clanak otvoreno govori o 40 dobrovoljackih bataljuna, kojima su sponzori razni ukrainski oligarhi; dakle privatne armije. Ne skriva se vise da se radi extremnim desnicarskim trupama, medju njima Azov. Uglavnom clanak i navodi kako su oligarhi i njihova vladajuca struktura najveci problem drzave. Na forumu ispod clanka se ljudi jednoglasno (nema ni jedan drugi glas) izjasnjavaju da su to govorili od pocetka konflikta. Mnogi govore da su ih do sad zbog toga proglasavali rusophilima. Sve u svemu ovo je dosta veliki znak za zaokret smatranja situcije. Clanak bi jos prije mjesec-dva nezamisliv. |

mogu misliti sta ce to biti kad sva ta nezadovoljna nadrndana ljuta i naoruzana rulja dodje sa ratista u Kijev,Parsonecko ce omastiti konopac oko vrata vrlo brzo

Ma da, za sve su krivi CIA, NSA i FBI, ukratko prljavi Ameri. Ubili glavnog protivnika veličanstvenog Putina uz pomoć ukrajinskih neonacista da bi naškodili Putinu i njegovoj politici spram Ukrajine, jel' tak?!

A US military satellite exploded after detecting an unexplained “sudden spike in temperature”, sending dozens of chunks of debris tumbling into different orbits around Earth.
Civilian company CelesTrak was first to notice the explosion of the once-secret weather satellite and the US Air Force subsequently confirmed that it had been lost.
The satellite was an ageing component of the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program which the US military began developing the in the 1960s to help plan reconnaissance and surveillance missions.
In 1972 the system was declassified, and data made available to civilian scientists.
The lost satellite was the 13th to be launched as part of DMSP, designated DMSP-F13, and had been in Earth orbit since 1995.
Air Force Space Command confirmed toSpaceNews.com that the “catastrophic event” came after “a sudden spike in temperature” was detected, followed by “an unrecoverable loss of attitude control”.
While operators were deciding how to “render the vehicle safe” they detected a debris cloud which indicated that the satellite had been destroyed.
The explosion has caused at least 43 pieces of debris to scatter into orbit, which are now being tracked by the US Air Force.
Air Force Col. John Giles, the Joint Space Operations Center’s director, toldSpaceNews.com: “While the initial response is complete, JSpOC personnel will continue to assess this event to learn more about what happened and what it will mean for users within this orbit."
There is speculation that the power system may have failed, causing the explosion.
Due to the age of DMSP-F13 it was no longer a critical part of the network, and the US government expects that its loss will cause only a “slight reduction” in real-time weather data.
Like all DMSP satellites it orbited the earth at an altitude of around 500 miles in a “sun-synchronous orbit” – meaning that they flew in a path taking in the north and south poles.
On each path around the earth, which took roughly 101 minutes, they would see a slightly different part of the planet. This would give each satellite a complete view of the entire planet’s surface twice a day.
