Despite sanctions: US companies want to fight forest fires with Russian firefighting aircraft
hahahahahahahah...Amerofili na aparatah...
A US company has awarded the Russian company Beriyev a contract for at least four fire-fighting aircraft. This was reported by the Russian aircraft manufacturer. The amphibious aircraft Be-200 is the only one of its kind in the world in terms of fire-fighting capacity.
Seaplane Global Air Services of the US has ordered four twin-engine amphibious Be 200ES aircraft from Russian aircraft manufacturer Berijew and has left open the option of acquiring six more.
The Be-200ES is a renowned Russian seaplane with a wingspan of nearly 33 meters, a range of 3,300 kilometers, a top speed of almost 700 kilometers per hour and a weight of over 132 tons.
The sales document for the deal was signed at the recent amphibious aviation fair Hydroavia salon in Gelendzhik (Russia). However, no delivery schedule or transaction value details have yet been announced.
Compared to the Canadian Bombardier CL-415 turboprop, the Be-200 transports twice the amount of water and two additional tons of flame retardant. It is able to draw water from lakes, large rivers or seas and can fly twice as fast as the CL-415 and is equipped with an electronic flight control.
Yuriy Grudinin, General Director of the Beriyev company, expressed the hope that this latest contract "will give momentum to the promotion of the Be-200 in the US and European markets". He also emphasized that the amphibious aircraft was developed specifically for firefighting and is able to scoop up to twelve tons of water in 20 seconds. In recent years, the Be-200 has gained an excellent reputation both at the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and elsewhere in Europe.
From the point of view of Seaplane Global Air Services, business with the Russians can be lucrative in many ways. The US company is reportedly planning to provide services in a number of countries, including the US, Europe and Australia, through fire-fighting aircraft in partnership with Californian service provider International Emergency Services.
n Europe is thinking about a pan-European firefighting fleet to help national fire fighters when needed. The cooperation of European nations in combating large forest fires is already working. Seaplane Global Air Services has in future a trump card in its hand with the ordered Be-200 in order to also be involved in this market, writes the trade portal Aeurobuzz.de. French and US pilots are soon sent to Taganrog to Berijew to qualify for the Be-200.
Patrick Massardy, President of Seaplane Global Air Services, said in a statement that his company is committed to helping its customers combat forest fires with the most efficient aircraft on the market. Because of its speed, range and water absorption capacity, the company has opted for the Be-200
