The Syrian army’s Tiger Forces, backed up by the Russian Aerospace Forces, have retaken the village of Ma`zulah and the Hawarah Hill from ISIS terrorists in the area southeast of al-Bab in the Syrian province of Aleppo.
By this move, government forces physically cut off the ISIS supply line to al-Bab which lays throughout Abu Jabbar and Tadif.
Now, the Tiger Forces are advancing on Shami in order to close the al-Bab pocket. When this is done, the fate of ISIS militants in the area will be predetermined.

Linije snabdjevanja presjecene,sad je unistenje terorista samo pitanje vremena,municije ce brzo nestati,a druga nema odakle doci,ocekujem da ce se ovo brzo rijesiti.

ma ne vjerujem da može staviti pod oružje više od 500 000 ljudi pod ovim uvjetima u kojima se situacija odvija.....po meni bilo bi bolje kad bi probao ali uz pomoć konkretno rusije da pokuša oformiti bar dvije kompletne divizije cca 40-50 000 ljudi i njih izdrilat do besvijesti ali da im ni ptičjeg mlijeka ne uzmanjka i onda svaku zasebno na dvije strane postupno uključiti u oslobodilačke operacije, ali sa ciljem brzog djelovanja i konkretnih učinaka na bojnom polju... nije bitno makar to bilo i za 2 godine, ali da se vidi jasan rezultat....

Na zapadu Al Baba obrana ISIL-a probijena. Po nekim informacijama već se vode ulične borbe u samom centru grada.

Sirija je prevelik prostor za Asadovu vojsku, kako god se organizirao.
Razlozi su nedostatni  ekonomsli i ljudski resursi.
Bez izravnog uključenja (ful, a ne djelomično) Amera u Siriji će ovo mrcvarenje
potrajati jo 6 godina, a rezultat bi i dalje bio upitan.
Druga je stvar da li to Ameri uopće žele...Ameri su se angažirali u bombardiranju oko Palmire.
Veli njihov komandant da je sve skupa ograničeno, jer ne znaju čije su koje pozicije na tlu.

While the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is stepping up its efforts to retake the vital gas fields in eastern Homs with the support of Russian airpower, the US-led coalition has increased its sorties against ISIS insurgents in the ancient city of Palmyra itself.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the coalition noted: “Near Palmyra, nine airstrikes destroyed 17 heavy equipment vehicles, 11 vehicles, four dump trucks, three front-end loaders, three VBIED’s and two tanks”.
This follows the alleged destruction of 14 ISIS tanks on Dec. 15 due to an intensive coalition air raid on Palmyra city. The armored vehicles are believed to have been captured by the Islamic State during the fall of the city a few days earlier.

Lieutenant General Stephen Townsend, a prominent coalition commander and spokesperson, on 13 December last year said that it was up to Moscow and Damascus to take back the ancient city of Palmyra, and that it was complicated to coordinate airstrikes with Russia.
The Islamic State recaptured Palmyra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on 11 December 2016 after driving out the SAA which temporarily liberated the city from ISIS following a protracted battle in March 2016.

The Syrian army’s Tiger Forces have liberated another important town near the ISIS stronghold of al-Bab in the Syrian province of Aleppo.
About a hour ago, the Tiger Forces got a full control over the town of Touman southwest of al-Bab after a series of intense firefights against ISIS terrorists.
Now, forward units of the Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) are deployed in less than 5 km from al-Bab.
Meanwhile, pro-opposition sources report that an intense fighting is ongoing in the western outskirts of al-Bab where the Turkish Army and a coalition of pro-Turkish militant groups known as the Free Syrian Army are attempting to develop a moment after seizing the al-Bab Hospital.

The Syrian army has secured the entire area of the lake of al-Jabbul in southwestern Aleppo after the recent advances in the area, according to reports in pro-government sources.

Last night, government forces the Hawwart Jabbul hill and secured the road from Khanasser to the city of Aleppo throughout al-Jabbul.
The al-Jabbul lake is an important physical barrier in the southeastern Aleppo which had been separated ISIS and government forces for a long time. Now, it looks the army and its allies are ready for a push from a new direction.

A video, showing the T-90K tank, operating during a battle, has been published on an official Youtube channel of the Syrian Army. The T-90K is a rare commander’s version of the T-90 tank, characterized by its high mobility and equipped with a special set of communication and navigation tools.
The fact that the Russian T-90 tank, also known as ‘Vladimir’, takes part in the Syrian war is not a secret. The government army adopted a “classical” modification of the T-90, as well as its improved version, the T-90A.



These well-proven tanks have many times become heroes of combat video reports. However, the commander’s T-90K tank was captured on video for the first time. Though, that is not surprising.

As military expert Aleksey Khlopotov told the Vestnik Mordovii informational website, only two such tanks were produced. They were a part of the first batch of tanks, supplied to the Russian Army in 2004-2005.
Visually, the T-90K can be recognized by two antennas, as it has additional means of communication (the R-163-50K radioset) and navigation equipment (the TNA-4-3). It also differs from early models of the T-90 with its cast steel turret (the previous models have a weld-fabricated turret) and more powerful V-92S2 engine.
The commander’s T-90K tank was for the first time presented at the Moscow exhibition of arms of land forces in 2008. And since then it disappeared from view. Apparently, it found the perfect use in Syria[/size]

Daesh has identified a weak spot in Germany’s legendary Leopard 2 battle tanks, and has destroyed ten of the machines used by the Turkish Army in northern Syria, the German newspaper Die Welt reported.
Battles in Afghanistan, Kosovo and elsewhere have earned Germany’s Leopard 2 battle tank a reputation for being indestructible. In one case, Canadian forces managed to drive a Leopard through a massive Taliban bomb blast and survive.
However, Turkish troops fighting the terrorist group Daesh in northern Syria have had a different experience. According to reports, Daesh fighters in the city of Al Bab have destroyed ten Leopard 2A4 battle tanks.
Searching for answers, some German bloggers have speculated that leadership failures or a lack of experience among Turkish troops may be to blame. However, the fundamental issue appears to be whether the 60 ton tanks are suitable for use in an urban environment, the German newspaper Die Welt reported on Thursday.

​”The Leopard 2 basic concept comes from a time when the enemy was expected to attack from the front. This basic design applies internationally to the big combat tanks, even to the most modern Russian T-14 Armata,” Die Welt wrote.
“The heavy-duty tracked vehicles are designed for a duel battle and have maximum protection in the frontal area as well as a small side angle. Since, for example, the Russian anti-tank missile Kornet can penetrate even 1.2-meter-thick armor, a tank’s less-protected areas are relatively vulnerable.”
“During the course of fighting in the Syrian town of al-Bath, the Turks’ approximately 30-year-old Leopards were often shot in the rear and sometimes from the side with anti-tank weapons. There, the massive tracked vehicles are less protected. Soldiers agree that a battle in a city can’t be compared with a duel on wide, undeveloped land, where tanks usually fight their targets from two or three kilometers away.”
According to a report from the German-language magazine European Security and Technology, the Leopard tanks in service with the Turkish army are especially vulnerable because they don’t have additional protection such as reactive armor, which reacts to and reduces a weapon’s impact, or an active protection system (APS) to counterattack an incoming threat such as the Trophy APS used by the Israeli army.
Daesh have destroyed the Leopard tanks by firing anti-tank weapons at the turret, which caused the ammunition inside to explode, the magazine wrote.
However, while reactive armor and APS make tanks more resistant to attack, they also make the vehicles much heavier.
The German defense ministry told Die Welt that the newest version of the Leopard 2, the A7V, is currently being introduced to the German army and boasts higher protection compared to the 2A4, which is no longer in service with the Bundeswehr.

The newest Leopard 2A7, 20 of which were introduced to the Bundeswehr in 2014, reportedly has a special composite armor which includes layers of ceramic. However, the models produced so far don’t have reactive armor, which was first installed in 1982 on Israeli tanks during Israel’s war with Lebanon.
Singapore, which bought 96 Leopard 2A4 tanks between 2006 and 2009, has upgraded them with Advanced Modular Armor Protection (AMAP), a modular composite armor produced by the German firm IBD Deisenroth Engineering.
An example of a reactive armor system is the one fitted on Russia’s 50-ton Armata T-14. These explosive reactive armor plates are comprised of “bricks” of explosive sandwiched between two metal plates, which force an incoming projectile to dissipate its impact over a larger volume of armor.
Active protection systems include Raytheon’s Quick Kill APS and Israel’s Trophy APS, which uses radar antenna to track incoming rocket-propelled grenades and missiles, and deploys multiple explosively formed penetrators (EFP) to destroy them.
Russia’s T-14 Armata battle tanks and T-15 Armata heavy infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) are fitted with the Afganit APS, which employs a combination of active phased antenna array radars and UV detectors to identify and track incoming projectiles, and mini-mortar systems which use fragmentation rounds to intercept and destroy incoming threats in mid-flight.[/size]

At least 15 terrorists of the Islamic State group, including two top field commanders, were killed in an aerial attack of the Syrian Air Force in Deir ez-Zor.

At least 15 members of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, including two its top field commanders, Abu Mohammad al-Adnani and Libyan commander Abu Walid Terablosi, lost their lives during an aerial attack of the Syrian Air Force in Deir ez-Zor, a field commander of the Syrian Army, General Osam Zahralddeen, said on Wednesday.
Zahralddeen also added that in recent days, a series of fresh attacks on defense lines of the IS terrorists, stationed near the Deir ez-Zor’s cemetery, located in the southern outskirts of the city, was launched by Syrian troops, who managed to advance 3 km deeper into the territories, occupied by the IS.
According to earlier reports, the Syrian Army targeted gatherings and concentration centers of the terrorist group near the Deir ez-Zor airbase, located in the southern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. As a result, at least nine members of the group, including several non-Syrians, were killed, and their plans for an imminent offensive were disrupted.
The IS was forced to retreat from the battlefield in order to avoid more casualties.[/size]
