Opinion: Biden White House sets aside ethics with handling of Hunter Biden artwork sales
Does Joe Biden think he’s impervious to the almost-certain negative consequences of Hunter’s latest pay-to-play scheme?
On July 2, 2021, a painting created by Pablo Picasso in 1919 sold, at an auction in Massachusetts, for $150,000. Days later, it was revealed that paintings created by President Joe Biden’s errant son, Hunter, are being sold for as much as $500,000.

transactions involving pricey artwork represent highly efficacious ways to launder money.
Indeed, when Adolf Hitler’s henchmen stole property from their Jewish victims, the Third Reich used artwork to launder such ill-gotten gains. In the exclusive realm of high-dollar art, transactions are often private, with subjective, easily manipulated pricing. In recent decades, as other means of cleaning up dirty cash have become less attractive, art has remained the most accommodating milieu for people who wish to anonymously, and legally, clean up dirty dough.
Making this scene even sweeter: It allows major cash deals. So, how does it work? Well, suppose a cocaine supplier wants to clandestinely stash $25 million, to keep it safe from the feds, and others.
By retaining professional representation at an auction — which wouldn’t even need to be private — in, say, Zurich, Switzerland, the rep buys a rare painting for his client that was created by a highly regarded, deceased artist — Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Picasso, Dali, or even Norman Rockwell. Within days, that painting can be anonymously sold, even at a loss; once the transaction closes, the crook who sold his recently purchased artwork would then possess “clean” funds, resulting from that ostensibly legitimate sale.
As a newly minted artist, Hunter Biden does remarkably well, especially for someone who switched careers on or about Jan. 20. But fetching $500,000 for a "Biden" is ludicrous.
However, it’s easy to imagine a so-called "anonymous buyer" texting Hunter: “Meet me for lunch next week. Our mutual buddy will join us. I’ve got some documents your old man should see.” As Shaub correctly complained, “They’ve outsourced government ethics to an art dealer. It’s an industry that’s notorious for money-laundering. There’s no standards in that industry.”
This won’t end well, and it shouldn’t. President Biden’s greedy son, having proclaimed himself an artist, has achieved his goal. But with this brazen, stupid scam, he’s perceived to be a very different type of … “artist.”

neće dobiti mito ispod stola za lobiranje kod tate nego će mu netko kupiti sliku za pola miliona.
