The night celebrated Croatian culture through themed in-arena components such as stands selling bureks, which were presented as popular Croatian street food.
Croatian klapa group Astoria performed the American national anthem at the start of the match, whilst at halftime, the large crowd at Madison Square Garden had the chance to witness some Croatian folklore dancing with a Linđo dance.
There was also a chance for the fans to meet Croatian international Bojan Bogdanović, who played for the Pacers and the New York Knicks Croatian Mario Hezonja, who also chose some of the music blasted from the stadium’s sound system.
Yesterday, the New York Knicks released a video taking a closer look at the Croatian heritage night. The star of the video was Knicks fan with Croatian heritage Gabe Gomes. Gomes, whose mother is from Croatia, was one of the many New York Croatians at Madison Square Garden that night.
