Satellite images of an Iranian weapons storehouse outside Damascus showed significant damage done to the site following Israeli airstrikes against Iranian targets earlier in the week.
The images, taken by ImageSat International (ISI), showed the complete destruction of the 60x15 meter storehouse which supposedly held Fajr-5 missiles at an Iranian base in the Syrian regime’s 4th Division camp in the area of al-Muna.

The Fajr-5 missile, which can be launched from a mobile platform, has a reported range of 75 km. According to ISI, the site struck by the IAF was around 40 km. from Israel.
The Israeli strikes on Tuesday beginning around 10 p.m. struck several locations in addition to the storehouse outside the capital, including military positions located in the suburbs of Damascus; air defense facilities and headquarters of the 68th Brigade and the 137th Brigade of the Syrian Army in the capital; and military Unit 10 in the district of Qatana.
Syrian state media said the strikes were carried out from Lebanese airspace and that a number of “hostile targets” were intercepted by its S-200 air defense system. Israel’s air defense system was also activated, with a smoke trail seen from Hadera south of Haifa. There were no reports of injuries or damage to Israel.
Israeli officials have repeatedly voiced concerns over the growing Iranian presence on its borders and the smuggling of sophisticated weaponry to Hezbollah in Lebanon from Tehran via Syria, stressing that both are redlines for the Jewish State.

Working to prevent the entrenchment of Iranian forces and the transfer of advanced weaponry to Hezbollah, the IAF has acknowledged carrying out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria this year.
The alleged attack came a week after the White House announced that American troops would withdraw from eastern Syria. Following the announcement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel would expand military operations against Iran following the withdrawal.
Israel has been “managing a campaign against Iranian forces, especially on Israel’s northern border” for the past two years, IAF Commander Maj.-Gen. Amikam Norkin said in late May, just weeks after the IAF carried out its most extensive operation in Syria since 1974, striking more than 50 Iranian targets following a missile barrage of 32 Fajr-5 and Grad missiles towards Israel’s front defensive line in the Golan Heights.
In an operation called “House of Cards,” dozens of positions and targets belonging to the IRGC’s Quds Force in Syria – including the launcher used to fire the rockets into Israel’s Golan Heights – were destroyed within 90 minutes by the IAF along with the Northern Command.
Despite destroying a large amount of Iranian military hardware in the war-torn country, a senior IAF officer said that Iran still has long-range capabilities to strike Israel, which has continued to strike targets in Syria.

IDF HEZBOLLAH TUNNEL-DESTROYING MATERIAL DISCOVERED IN LEBANON

Twenty-three days after Israel launched Operation Northern Shield and uncovered the first tunnel dug by Hezbollah into northern Israel from southern Lebanon, the IDF has completed the destruction of a number of tunnels which infiltrated close to the community of Metulla.
According to IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Ronen Manelis, the military destroyed the tunnels by filling them with material which would prevent the Shi’ite terrorist group from using them.

Residents of Kfar Kila in Lebanon react to flood of tunnel-destroying material.
The material, he said, has come out of the tunnel in several places in the southern Lebanese village of Kfar Kila where the tunnel was dug from, including in a residential building next to the border fence which was used to make bricks.
“This fact indicates Hezbollah’s use of civilian structures in the heart of an urban area in southern Lebanon, in flagrant violation of Resolution 1701 and endangering its citizens by using them as human shields,” the military said in a statement.
“It is clear that this factory belongs to Hezbollah and was used to build tunnels,” Manelis said, adding that there were other locations in Kfar Kila which were connected to tunnels and therefore the IDF saw material come out in several locations, including into residential homes.
“Whoever decides to live above a terror tunnel endangers his life, just like someone who decides to live above a weapons storehouse,” Manelis said.
The operation which began on December 4 to find and destroy the tunnels dug by the Shi’ite terrorist group has so far found five cross-border attack tunnels and last week the military began the process of destroying them.
On Wednesday, the military announced that it had destroyed a fifth cross-border attack tunnel crossing into northern Israel from the southern Lebanese village of Ayta as-Shab. It was discovered several days ago and destroyed by an explosion on Wednesday.
Another tunnel found by the military, outside the community of Zarit and across from the Lebanese village of Ramiyah, was destroyed by an explosion.
A senior officer taking part in the operation told reporters Monday that due to the unique characteristics of each tunnel, the method in which they are destroyed is determined by their route and the type of soil they are dug into, rather than according to how it might affect the other side.
“If the destruction of a tunnel blows the house on the other side, and this will be the best way to destroy the tunnel, this is the method that will be chosen,” he said.
Unlike the tunnels dug by terror groups in the Gaza Strip, each tunnel found by the military on the Lebanese border has different characteristics, with some strengthened by concrete while others are burrowed straight into the rock.
“We found one tunnel that resembles a Hamas tunnel because of its route, but the rest of the tunnels are five stars... something that Hamas could only dream of, with ventilation shafts and electricity,” one senior IDF officer said.
Another senior IDF officer stated that the experience gained by the military in dealing with the tunnels from the Gaza Strip was critical to the success in the operation.
