Air Transat launch new Toronto-Split service for the Croatian summer

Canadian airline Air Transat has announced the introduction of the first flights between Toronto in Canada and the Croatian city of Split. 

Air Transat will commence a service from Toronto to Split on 20 June 2019 and operate flights once per week on Thursday through until 12 September 2019. 
Air Transat has had a service to the capital Zagreb in place for the past two years and this year added four one-way services from Zagreb to Montreal.

Air Transat’s leisure division offers both seven and fourteen-night travel packages to various cities across Croatia, including Dubrovnik, through its Zagreb service.
“We are continuously looking at all opportunities, including Croatia. Like all airlines, there are a number of considerations involved when we are selecting a destination, including customer demand, airport infrastructure and competition from other carriers,” Air Transat said earlier.

In 2017 a total of 136,519 Canadians visited Croatia with a large number members of the Croatian diaspora in Canada. More than 25% more visitors from Canada arrived in Croatia than the year prior.
Air Transat is expected to announce its full 2019 summer plans by mid-October. The carrier is also believed to be considering seasonal flights from Montreal to Zagreb and Toronto to Dubrovnik.
